The first time I saw a Super Class C, I had no idea what it was. But I knew I had to get one. “Freightliner” was the only emblem on this particular motorhome sitting in a storage lot. As soon as I arrive home, I googled “RV built with Freightliner”. Upon completing my research, I asked my wife if she would like to become a full-time Super Class C RV traveler. She agreed but under two conditions; the motorhome was required to have a window in the back bedroom and above the cab-over bunk. After extensive due diligence, we narrowed our decision to the Jayco Seneca 37TS and an Entegra Accolade 37TS. We test-drove the Seneca in Riverside, CA, and viewed an Accolade at National Indoor RV Center (NIRVC) in Las Vegas, NV. We ordered the 2021 Accolade 37TS in October 2020, and took delivery in February 2021.

So, what is a Super Class C?
I am happy you asked! The Super C motorhome is smaller than a Class A, bigger than a Class C, and built on a large cutaway truck chassis such as the Freightliner S2RV, Ford F-550, Ram® 5500, or other chassis. Super C lengths can run between 33’ to 45’ and are usually equipped with a spacious cab-overhead bunk. They are easily recognizable because their front end looks like a smaller semi-truck.
The difference between a Super Class C, Class C, and Class A.
As stated before, Super C’s are a bigger and stronger version of the traditional Class Cs. Because Class Cs are smaller, they have limited amenities and interior/exterior storage space.
Super C’s offers luxurious amenities similar to Class As, such as spacious floorplans, multiple televisions, granite countertops, full bathrooms, full kitchens, stainless steel appliances, a fireplace, and outside entertainment centers.
The significant difference between the three is the power and incredible towing capability of Super Cs. Our Entegra Accolade is powered by Cummins® ISB 6.7L 360 HP diesel engine with 800 ft.-lb. torque and a towing capacity of 12,000 lbs. It displays dynamic power while towing up steep inclines. Other Super Cs can tow up to 25,000 lbs or more.
While Class As are either powered by diesel or gas, their diesel engines are located in the rear and Super C diesel engines are in the front. Driving a Class A is similar to driving a bus because the driver is positioned in front of the wheels rather than behind them as with the Super C.
The advantages of a Super C.
Super C’s are safer than other motorhomes due to the truck chassis, heavier front engine, and hood providing a protective barrier in the event of an accident or head-on collision. They have three doors for quick escapes in case of an emergency, which are usually not found on Class As.
Unlike the Class Cs, Super C’s have a wider wheelbase for better safety, making them sturdier and less likely to overturn. The raised cab design provides a better view of the road and a more comfortable ride for the driver and passengers.
Additionally, the front-located diesel engine provides easier access which means it can be serviced at any truck mechanic shop.
Which is better, a Class A, Class C, or Super C?
I believe it all comes down to personal preference. Being a 6’ female, I enjoy the extra legroom while driving the Super C compared to driving a regular Class C. I love that it drives just like a truck, which I find easier than driving a Class A. Last but not least, it has an air horn and looks good!
