If you own an RV, I am sure you know the importance of keeping your black and gray holding tanks clean and odor-free. A poorly maintained tank can lead to unpleasant smells, clogs, and other issues that can spoil your camping experience. That is why having a good quality tank treatment product such as Happy Camper is crucial.
Happy Camper is a popular, powerful, and efficient product designed to break down waste and reduce unpleasant odors in RV holding tanks. Initially, we purchased the container with 18 treatments to give it a test run. Subsequently, we ordered the container with 130 treatments.
If you are new to using Happy Camper, the following steps will guide you through the process of using it for your black and gray holding tanks.
Step 1: Gather Supplies
To safeguard your hands, you will require a set of gloves, and a 1-gallon bucket is optional.
Step 2: Determine the Right Dosage
The recommended dosage is 1 scoop for every 40 gallons of tank capacity. So, if your tank is 80 gallons, you would need to use 2 scoops of Happy Camper. It is important to measure the dosage accurately to get the best results. Provided scoop may be located at the bottom of the container.
Step 3: Mix With Water And Flush
After identifying the correct dosage, mix the product in the bucket containing one gallon of water. Alternatively, you can fill the toilet bowl for the black tank and the kitchen sink for the gray tank with 1 gallon of water and then mix the product. If you opt to mix the product in the toilet, make sure to flush it immediately.
Never add more than 1 scoop to approx. 1 gallon of water before immediately flushing.
Step 4: Fill The Tank With Water
After adding the Happy Camper, add 2 or more gallons of water to the holding tanks and let it sit for a few hours, or overnight if possible.
Step 5: Drive Your RV
If possible, once the Happy Camper has been added to the waste tank, drive your RV around to help distribute the product throughout the tank. This will help ensure that the tank is thoroughly cleaned and deodorized.
Personally, I use one scoop and completely rinse our tanks one day before leaving the RV park. Additionally, I add another scoop to the tank on the day of departure.
Step 6: Repeat the Process Regularly
To maintain clean and odor-free holding tanks, it is important to repeat the process regularly.
In conclusion, using Happy Camper for your black and gray holding tanks is an easy and effective way to keep your tanks sanitized and smelling fresh. By following these simple steps, you can enjoy a more pleasant camping experience without worrying about clogs.
